Pike Trek ( 11 Days)

Itinerary:

Day 01 / Arrive Kathmandu
Arrive Kathmandu and transfer to our hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore this quaint and charming ancient city. Stay in Hotel.

Day 02 / Kathmandu - Jiri (8-hour drive)
Early this morning we drive to Jiri, 187 km from Kathmandu. Jiri is the starting point of our trek to Everest/Khumbu area. (BLD)

Day 03 / Jiri - Bhandar (2200m) - 7 hours
The trek begins with a steady climb through cultivated fields and tiny Tamang villages. Climbing diagonally, we will cut across forested areas and open pastures before descending to Shivalaya. From Shivalaya it's a steady climb to the top of the Deorali pass (2705m) and then a short walk to Bhandar, a Sherpa village littered with prayer walls and small gompas (Buddhist temples). (BLD)

Day 04 / Bhandar - Namkili (2300m) 5 hours
Our trek continues with a two and half-hours descend along the Everest trail until Chiddarin and we then cross our first suspension bridge towards Pike Peak. After a relatively short walk, we begin ascending through the terraced fields to Gyapchuma village. We continue our walk through the villages, terraced fields and ascend the final 350m for our overnight camp at Namkili village. (BLD)

Day 05 / Namkili - Nagur (3350m) 4 hours
Following the path on the ridge, we climb gradually through rhododendrons and Malingo kobus and through the zigzag trail to a beautiful Sherpa village called Goligompa. Following a short descent, we climb again to another Sherpa village Ngaur (3350m). Excellent views of Numbur and Rolwaling can be found here and we camp here for the night. (BLD)

Day 06 / Nagur - Pike Peak (4065m) - Pikehop (2650m) 6 hours
Today is the day we have been waiting for: summit day! We ascend through forests of rhododendrons, hemlock firs and junipers. As we approach Pike Peak, the stunning sight of Mt. Everest (8848m), Lhotes, Rolwaling and many other snow-capped peaks lay before us! This awesome and inspiring panorama is further made breathless by the rarefied air. Some symptoms of altitude sickness like headache may be experienced but we will be descending to Pikekhop, our overnight campsite. (BLD)

Day 07 / Pikehop - Phaplu (2250m) 3hours
Today we walk through some very interesting Sherpa villages. One of the most remarkable is Lamidanda where the Sherpa and Tamang people live together. We will descend about 400m to Solu Khola, cross the suspension bridge and climb about 300m to Phaplu, yet another interesting civilization. (BLD)

Day 08 / Phaplu - Kathmandu (40 minute flight)
After breakfast, we check-in at the tiny airport to board (weather permitting) our plane for Kathmandu. (B)
